Dr. Rosemary Hails
April 2003
Dr. Rosemary Hails discusses the surprising impact today of the research she performed a decade ago, on the impact of genetically modified oilseed rape (canola) on natural habitats. The paper in question, "Ecology of transgenic oilseed rape in natural habitats," (Nature 363[6430]: 620-3, 17 June 1993) garnered 111 citations in our analysis of genetically modified crop research published over the past decade, making it the second-most-cited paper in this analysis. In the ISI Essential Science Indicators Web product, Dr. Hails has 11 papers cited a total of 290 times to date in the field of Plant & Animal Science.
