ST:  Why do you think your paper is highly cited?

Afraimovich, V
Chazottes, JR

I believe it's happening because the article is related to a fresh idea to describe dynamical features by using the machinery of the fractal dimensions theory.

ST:  Could you summarize the significance of your paper in layman's terms?

To describe dynamics, especially complex dynamics, people use some common characteristics—topological and Kolmogorov-Sinai entropies, Lyapunov exponents, etc. We added a new one to this relatively short list. Now there are more tools at hand.

ST:  How did you become involved in this research?

I discussed with two young and talented scientists, Jean-Rene Chazottes and Benoit Saussol, that the possibility might exist to exploit further the quantity that I introduced in 1997. They convinced me that it was possible to do, suggested how it could be done, and we became coauthors.End
