Beginning in mid-February 2008, the 1997-2007 online version of the Science Watch® newsletter, ESI-Topics.com, and in-cites.com, will all be featured together on the redesigned ScienceWatch.com. All previous content from the three sites will be permanently archived, and remain accessible from any existing bookmarks to the archived pages. No new content will be added to this site. Environmental Health Perspectives

In our analysis of Polychlorinated Biphenyls research, the journal Environmental Health Perspectives ranked at #2 among journals publishing in this field over the past decade, with 282 papers cited a total of 7,590 times. According to the ISI Essential Science Indicators Web product, Environmental Health Perspectives ranked #4 in citations, and has published 3,569 papers cited a total of 47,147 times to date among the 142 top-performing journals in Environment/Ecology. The journal's most-cited paper in this field, "Developmental effects of endocrine-disrupting chemicals in wildlife and humans," (Environmental Health Perspectives 101[5]: 378-384, October 1993), has been cited 795 times to date. Among the top 20 papers for Polychlorinated Biphenyls, six were published by Environmental Health Perspectives. Recently, ESI Special Topics visited the Website of this highly-cited journal and 1captured bytes of their description for this profile .

“Science best benefits society when its freely available to all”
- Dr. Kenneth Olden, Director, NIEHS

Environmental Health Perspectives, the peer-reviewed journal of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, is an important vehicle for the dissemination of environmental health information and research findings. EHP is read in over 190 countries. Electronic submission and review are the norm for the more than 800 manuscripts received each year. With a rejection rate of 80% only the best articles are published. These articles are published within 24 hours of acceptance on ehponline as EHP-in-Press articles and are completely citable using the CrossRef DOI system.

EHP has an international outreach program that includes complimentary subscriptions to developing countries and a Chinese-language edition published quarterly and distributed to 35,000 readers. In the journal's continued commitment to the international community, the "In This Issue" section is published on EHP's website in five languages - Chinese, French, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish.

Open Access

Environmental Health Perspectives [EHP] is now an open access journal - all content is freely available to everyone online immediately after publication.

The table, top papers, and graphs below specify Environmental Health Perspectives' publication and citation performance in the field of Environment/Ecology over the last decade, with the table showing EHP's rank on three separate measures, compared against the 142 top-performing journals in Environment/Ecology covered by the ISI Essential Science Indicators Web based product.
